    Real Time Datastreams

All the data streams that are read from the asset are on the right side of the detail page. In order to read data from a machine, it must first be connected to a gateway. More on this in the article ("Gateways") To obtain data from it, connectors must be created that store these data streams and transfer them to the platform.

Existing data streams can be edited in a similar way to the Asst metadata. Clicking on the "Edit" button opens a form in which the individual data streams can be edited and parent folders can be created that can be expanded or closed.

Click on a data stream or a group to open the edit window to the right of it. The name of the group or data stream can be edited here. You can also add or change a description. The unit of the data stream can also be changed.

Select the appropriate unit for your data stream:

    • Voltage: mV, V, kV, MV
    • Performance: mW, W, kW, MW
    • Energy: Wh, kWh, mWh
    • Temperature: ºC, ºF, K
    • Power: mA, A, kA, MA
    • Frequency: Hz, kHz, MHz
    • Pressure: Pa, hPa, bar
    • Duration: s, min, h, d
    • Rotation: U/s, U/m (rpm)
    • Joule: J, kJ, MJ
    • Light: lm, lx, cd

If you need other units, you can easily define your own units.

The 'Topic' field is for a unique MQTT identifier.

Also define a "type" to be able to make suitable settings. The type also determines the visualization of the data stream itself on the detail page or on dashboards. You can find out more about visualizations on dashboards etc. in the corresponding article.

    • Text: Values come in text format and are visualized on dashboards as a table.
    • Status: You can define your own status codes for statuses. Once the type has been selected, a new code list can be created or an existing one imported in the Status section of the top tab. Also select a suitable color. The status is later visualized as a bar chart. If you have created a complete status code list, it can also be exported directly here and imported for other machines.
    • Number: Values come as a number value and are visualized as a line chart.
    • Boolean: "True" or "False" values.
    • Geolocation
    • JSON
    • Alarm: Active alarms/errors of the asset are displayed here. These come from an error code list that is maintained in the "Accounts" menu. The error code list can always be maintained for the respective account and is therefore available on all assets. Select the corresponding list in the "Visualization" tab at the top. (In case there are several lists per account)

If the "Allow sending values to this datastream" checkbox is activated, data can be sent externally to the datastream. This works via so-called "actions", for example. More on this in the article "Actions".

You can also define whether the group should be open or closed by default. Within this group, there are individual data streams.

Click on a data stream or a group to open the edit window to the right of it. The name of the group or data stream can be edited here.

Click on the three dots of the individual data stream elements or the groups to move them up or down. Or it can also be moved to a group. It can also be deleted here.

To add new data streams click on the "Collect data" button. Here you can upload existing logs and select the most important data to be added to the asset. (more about this in the article "Collect Data").

    Datastream visualization and commenting

All data streams that have been assigned to the asset can also be seen under the "Data" drop-down menu. Click on a specific data stream to open the corresponding diagram. The diagram for displaying data streams allows you to visualize complex data streams clearly and intuitively. It can display all types of data stored in the asset. The data is displayed along the time axis, allowing you to view the progression and development over the selected time range.

In addition to line charts, status bar charts or geodata can also be displayed on a map. Depending on the type of data stream, a suitable visualization is generated that reflects an accurate overview of the data.

Time spans can be customized using the selector at the top right. Select an exact date, an exact time or suggested time periods, such as "last week", "last month".

If you recognize details in the data stream that you want to examine in detail, you can select the part of the data stream. Hold down the right mouse button and drag over the desired time range. After releasing the mouse button, the data stream is updated and the system zooms into the selected time range.

Double-click on the data stream to jump back to the previous time period.

The new commenting feature on our digital customer platform makes it easier to collaborate and analyze data points. With a simple click on the "Add comment" button, you have the option to add insights, comments and observations directly to specific points in the chart. This allows you to share your knowledge with other users and promote internal transparency and communication.

In the following window, the selected time or time period is displayed and you can assign a type to your comment. Choose between comment, problem/alarm or event. This type helps to classify the purpose of the comment. This allows you to search for specific comments later and analyze them more easily.

You can now record your observations, comments or explanations on the selected data point in the text field.

Publish your comment: As soon as you have written your comment, click on "Save" to make the comment visible to all users with access rights.

In addition to the comment function, you also have the option of downloading the selected data stream. Simply click on the "Download" button and an image of the selected data stream interval will be downloaded automatically.
